Fall Book Fair

"Show me a family of readers,
and I will show you the people who move the world."
~ Napoleon Bonaparte

Welcome to Book Fair Week!  Expect the unexpected, be patient, and be flexible.  Monday is the teacher preview day.  Treats will be available in the Media center for teachers so please stop by between 7-7:30 am.  Families will be coming for Donuts with Grownups both Tuesday and Wednesday.  Expect students to straggle in a little late but we will do our best to get them to class on time.  Thursday is classroom pickup for the Family Event.  Friday is Mass and Grandparents/friends Day.  Here is a breakdown of the schedule for Friday.  If you have any questions about it, please come see me.  Where it says "Book Fair," that is ONLY if they have a grandparent/friend present.  I will make an announcement for people to switch to another room if they choose at 10:30.  We will not have Encore classes, but those teachers should be present in the classroom so the teacher has their prep.  Please check with the teachers to know what activities are planned.  I will send more information tomorrow about when to send students to the Book Fair that bring in money and permission slips.

Creating Memories

The most beautiful things in life are those special moments and memories.  What are the memories we're making together as educators?  How will we create even better experiences the rest of this year?  Because of our calling, we choose to remember the best about people and gracefully release them from errors and sins of yesterday.  Memories are powerful, but it's our vision that elevates and energizes people.  We give hope and enable dreams through education.

On Friday of this week, we will have our first Marvelous Mustang award presentation of the year.  Please be sure to contact parents and send your students to the Media Center prior to the morning show.

Have a wonderful week and go make some powerful memories, the kind that inspire new dreams.  Love 'em and Lead 'em!

Patriot Day

Patriot Day is observed every Sept. 11 to mark the anniversary of the terrorist attacks against the US.  As we work for peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation, let us make this a time for hope in God's grace, in ourselves, and in one another.

Teachers, please remember to include a discussion of the homily from the weekend in your Monday religion lessons each week.  This idea from the Religion teacher is a good one.  Students can write it in their religion notebook or on an index card.  You should also ask them what they heard the priest say in the homily.

If you have not turned in your Faith Dev. Plan, please turn it into me on Monday.  Teachers, please remember to bring a device and your PGPs to the faculty meeting for possible updates.  Thank you to those who already updated theirs.

This looks to be a pretty quiet full week of school.  Not much happening except some great learning!  Have a wonderful week!

O, Lord, remember us in our desire to live out your purpose for us in creation.  Fill us with comradeship, loyalty, humility, and courage, generosity, and greatness of heart which grow out of suffering.  May we bring peace to others of all races and faiths and in that action find peace for ourselves.  Give us peace in our time, O Lord, we pray.  Amen.

Happy Gaudete Sunday

What is Gaudete Sunday?  The day when anyone can wear pink and it's cool.  It's also the Sunday we rejoice.  For two weeks, we have...
